BLUE SEED OR POPPY SEED

The seed and its soothing properties are mentioned in texts of the Egyptians and the ancient Greeks. In some ways the collection of poppy seeds rivals that of opium. Excellent quality seeds are obtained when the calyx of the plant is dry, while opium is harvested when the calyx is still green and the seeds have not yet developed.

Poppy seed is used either as a spice or to decorate bread or the appearance of gourmet dishes. Ideal for decoration is the long seed that has a dark blue color.
