HYSSOPS PLANT

His name is Greek. In Hebrew, the word ezob means holy herb.

Hippocrates and Dioscorides appreciated the medicinal properties of the plant and recommended it for respiratory ailments, just as it is still used today.

It is a perennial shrub that usually keeps its leaves. It can reach 90 cm in height. The base of its shoots is woody and its leaves are small and oblong. Its flowers come out in the summer many together in inflorescences, they are blue in color and attract bees a lot. There are also varieties with pink or white flowers.

Hyssop has expectorant, diaphoretic, anti-catarrhal and antibacterial properties. Its leaves and flowers are used fresh or dried. Infusions are used for coughs, colds and chest ailments.

Hyssop has an antiseptic, soothing and tonic effect. It can be used to stimulate the nervous system and improve mental alertness.
